Grade Specifications and Characteristics of Century Brand Flooring

Elite Grade: This is the highest quality standard in manufacturing and grading available. Formal consistency of line ande color.

Grade Content: Select and better (no filler required)

Builder's Grade: This selection offers a higher quality grade. The wood characteristics are meant to bridge the gap between the formal look of Elite Grade and the character of Country Grade. This product exceeds the standards of competitor's specifications.

Grade Content: 50% Select and better filled, 48% #1 common filled, 2% #2 common filled.
Random Lengths: 9''-78'', 3/4'' thick and available in 2 1/4'' or 3 1/4'' widths.

Country Grade: This selection offers the same high quality manufacturing standards offered by Century Brand Flooring. However, Country grade is a high character grade product. If you desire a more formal look, choose Builder's Grade or Elite Grade.

Limited Warranty of Century Brand Flooring

Prefinished Floors: Century Flooring Company LLC ("seller")) hereby warrants to the original buyer ("Buyer") the goods to be free from manufacturing defects for as long as you own your home. The Century Seal 3000 finish is warranted against wear through or lack of adhesion for one year on Antique Grade, five years on Country Grade, fifteen years on Builder Grade and twenty years on Elite Grade flooring (the "Products").

This warranty is conditioned upon the Seller's receipt of notice in writing from the Buyer of the alleged detect prior to expiration of the limited warranty period and evidence that the products were properly installed and not subject to the conditions described below.

This warranty does not apply to Cabin Grade or other downgraded or discontinued items. Any such Product or Products are sold "as is" Seller hereby disclaims all other warranties, expressed or implied, including any warranty of mechantability or fitness for a particular purpose whatsoever.

Limitations on Liability: Buyer's exclusive remedy and Seller's sole liability on any claim, whether in tort, contract or breach of warranty, shall be limited to, the repair or replacement of the defective goods which are proven to the Seller's satisfaction to be defective in manufacture or the refund of the applicable purchase price. In no event and for no cause whatsoever, including, any breach or default by Seller, shall Seller have any other liability (including without limitation incidental or consequential damages) or any monetary liability to Buyer in excess of the contract price or prices of the pertinent Products in question. If Seller shall elect to repair or replace said Products which are proven defective, it shall not be responsible for any labor charges of any kind either in the re-installation or in the dismantling and removal of Products previously installed. The liability of Seller shall be further limited to the replacement of the products by delivery to the building site in question.

Limitations

While our warranty is excellent, there are some limits to it. Any of the following shall void and invalidate our warranty.

Visible Defects: Visible defects are those defects which are apparent on the face of the flooring. They must be noted by the installer and reported before installation so that replacement flooring can be furnished before installation.
Building Settling or Uneven Sub floor: These situations are considered to be a part of the pre-installation inspection process. Do not install wood flooring if these situations exist. This warranty does not cover damages by settling or uneven sub floors.
Improper Installation: Improper installations done in a way that is contrary to the specifications can cause problems with a Century floor. Seller will not replace a floor with defects caused by improper installation.
Improper Maintenance or Inadequate Care: Your Century floor requires regular maintenance. Please follow the instructions that are recommended in Century Flooring Literature. Seller will not replace a Century Product damaged by improper maintenance or inadequate care.
Accidents, Abuse or Abnormal Wear: This warranty does not cover damage resulting from accidents or abuses that stain or scratch the finish, diminish gloss, or indent the surface of the wood. It also does not cover damage caused by heavy or concentrated foot traffic.
Indentations From Stiletto Heels on Shoes: A stiletto heel can concentrate as much as 2,000 pounds per square inch on the floor. This type of heel has a diameter of approximately 3/8'', and walking on any wood surface with stiletto heels is considered an abusive situation. Seller will not replace any Century Product damaged by stiletto heels on shoes.
Problems With Moisture or DrynessThis warranty does not cover damage caused by wetting or the presence of excessive moisture, or by conditions that are too dry.
UV Light Exposure: Even normal exposure to UV light can bring about color changes in hardwood flooring. Use shades and draperies to your advantage, and rearrange furniture and area rugs as often as necessary to avoid irregularities in color.
Difference From Samples: This warranty does not cover the differences that can be seen between color samples and color of installed floors. Please approve the color of the actual product prior to installation.
Consequential or Incidental Damages: Seller excludes and will not pay consequential or incidental damages under this warranty. By this Seller means any loss, expense, inconvenience or damage other than to the wood floor itself that may result from a defect in the Century Product.
Your Obligation to Century: As the Purchaser of our product you agree to follow all care and maintenance directions as related to wood flooring. You also agree to allow Century an opportunity to correct any claimed defects.

Grade Specifications and Charactaristics of Preverco Brand Flooring

Select and Better Grade:

  • Color variations are minor (natural variations in the sapwood).
  • Wood is selected for color uniformity. Color is paler and more uniform than other grades.
  • Minimum length: approximately 12''

25 year warranty against finish wear through.


Select Grade:

  • Select is relatively uniform; contains a few variations in color (natural variations in the sapwood and some minerals) but the strips with extreme color variations are not accepted.
  • For the Walnut ande Cherry, the strips contain more than 15% of the sapwood (light colored boards) and are not admissible in order to ensure color uniformity.
  • Minimum length: approximately 10''

Select Extra Grade:

  • Combinations of 60% to 70% Select & better and 30% to 40% #1 common; all color variations are accepted and combined in one single grade.
  • Color variations are pronounced, but there are a large proportion of pale boards. Only defects are removed but no selection is made for color variations.
  • May contain small sound knots.
  • Minimum length: approximately 10''

#1 Common Grade:

  • Attractive mix of natural heartwood and sapwood colors (all color variations are accepted).
  • Grain is highly visible and the color is generally darker.
  • May contain small sound knots.

Tavern Grade:

  • Prefinished flooring that could not be classified in the standard grades.
  • May contain small sound knots.
  • The wood is shorter than average length (between 8'' and 12'')

Limited Warranty Of Preverco Brand Flooring

Structural Warranty(Grading and Milling) Preverco Inc. has an ongoing control of all manufacturing steps involved in the production of it's prefinished hardwood floors. From kiln drying to finish, all our flooring is manufactured under the most rigorous quality control standards.

As hardwood is a product of nature, it will inherit natural characteristics or shadings. Industry standards allow a tolerance in quality variation not exceeding 5% of the total quantity purchased. Preverco Inc. will replace any material in excess of this 5% tolerance (excluding labor costs and shipping fees)

A 25-year residential warranty on the Sigma™ finishPreverco Inc. warrants to the original purchaser that the Sigma™ finish will not wear through or separate from the wood for a full 25 years. This warranty applies from the date of purchase, as long as the floor is submitted to normal residential wear. Regular preventative maintenance as recommended by Preverco Inc. must be followed.

This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original owner of the floor.
The warranty applies to first quality material only.
A proof of purchase and or copy of the original invoice are required.
The 25-year finish warranty applies to all Preverco prefinished flooring manufactured since March 10th, 2003.

A 3-year light commercial warranty on the Sigma™ finish Effective for material dated as of March 10th 2003 for all applications of light commercial projects, a 3-year wear warranty will apply. This warranty is applicable to installations in areas such as - clothing stores, offices, furniture stores, department stores, health care facilities, and fine dining establishments. Excluded from this commercial warranty are installations in fast food chain establishments, movie theaters, etc.

For this commercial warranty to be effective, all installations must be in accordance with Preverco's installation guidelines with regular maintenance as per our instructions. Finally, all the conditions mentioned for our 25-year residential must be respected in order for this commercial warranty to be valid. Make sure to read the warranty Exclusions presented at the bottom of this page. Please contact your territory manager for details and to have your project pre-approved and registered.

Warranty Exclusions
The surface wear must be readily visible. At least 10% of the floor surface must be affected. Gloss reduction is not considered surface wear. The surface wear must not have occurred as a result of incorrect maintenance or accidents. Example: scratches, dents etc.

The Preverco warranty will not apply in the case of indentations, scratches, or damage caused by water, erosion, insects, pets and spiked heel shoes.

Preverco Inc. will not accept any claim resulting from non-compliance with the recommendations listed in the "WARRANTY INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE" brochure included with your flooring or available from your distributor. Preverco Inc. may therefore not be held responsible for damage resulting from improper maintenance, non-compliance of Preverco's written instructions, insufficient storage protection, poor maintenance, neglect, misuse, abuse, and non maintenance of the proper humidity conditions.

Preverco Inc. disclaims any responsibility when it's products are installed in a basement, on concrete floors or in rooms equipped with radiant heating.

Products classified as rustic (grade c) second quality, imperfect, special, or non-standard are not covered by this warranty. They are sold "as-is".

Although our Sigma™ finish helps reduce the natural fading of the wood, Preverco Inc. cannot warranty fading due to sunlight. As time goes by, normal exposure to sunlight will slightly change the color of any hardwood floor. Shift your mats occasionally because they block sunlight. This discoloration is normal and is not due to a manufacturing fault.

Since Hardwood is a natural product, and even if you hardwood floor is well installed, your hardwood floor will continue to shrink or expand depending on seasons and humidity / heating conditions. The little spacers between the strips / planks are normal and not covered by this warranty.

Since hardwood is a natural, living material that reacts to the surrounding environment, it is possible that certain factors (e.g. unusual humidity levels, improper installation, improper handling, a lack if acclimatization, etc) may cause cracks and / or splits to appear in certain strips / planks of you floor. Boards with cracks and or splits must be visible during installation and must be put aside for replacement for warranty coverage to apply.* Once boards are installed, warranty coverage is no longer applicable because cracks and/or splits may result from variations external factors out of the manufacturer's control. *Note: if over 5% industry standards.

It is the installers liability to ensure that the cleat is properly in place as dimpling of the wood face is not considered a manufacturing defect.

For your warranty to be valid, you must have a copy of your original reciept and be the original owner of the floor.
